Who we are

MALKOT began with one conviction: a woman does not have to arrive ready in order to belong.

Women come to us in every season of life. Some are starting over in a new country and a new language. Some have lost a job, a marriage, a home or someone they love. Some are raising children alone, caring for a family member, or trying to recover from a financial crisis. Some simply feel alone. We meet each woman where she is, and we never reduce her to the hardship that brought her to us.

Then we do something practical about it. We teach the skills that open doors: English, everyday life skills, job skills and money skills. We match women with mentors who walk alongside them. We gather every week so no woman has to carry her season alone. And when a woman is in a moment of crisis, we help, directly or by connecting her with people who can.

Who we serve

MALKOT serves any adult woman (18 or older) facing hardship, including women who are:

• starting over in a new country, city or culture
• learning English
• looking for work, returning to work after years away, or seeking a better job
• going through separation, divorce, widowhood or the loss of a home
• raising children on their own or caring for family members
• facing a financial crisis or struggling to manage money
• feeling isolated, without family or friends nearby

What we do

Weekly gatherings. Every week we gather around a table. It is our front door: a warm, safe place to meet other women, be heard, share a coffee or a simple meal, and find out what help is available.

Classes that build real skills. We teach in class cycles with a clear start and finish, so every woman can see her progress. Our classes cover English for everyday life, life skills, workforce skills and financial skills.

One-on-one mentorship. Any woman who wants one can be matched with a volunteer mentor. Together they set personal goals and meet regularly to work toward them.

Direct assistance. When a woman faces an urgent need, MALKOT may provide limited, short-term assistance. Requests are reviewed confidentially, based on need and available resources, using written criteria approved by our Board of Directors.

Community referrals. When a woman needs help we don't provide ourselves, we connect her with trusted local agencies and licensed professionals, and we follow up to see that she got the help she needed.

The MALKOT Journey: from Hadassah to Esther

Before she was Queen Esther, she was Hadassah, an orphan living in exile, far from her people's homeland. She was taken in, prepared, and then placed where she could make a difference “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14). Every MALKOT program follows the same path.

• 02 RESTORE. Before anything is asked of you, there is room to be cared for.
• 03 PREPARE. Language, skills, knowledge and relationships.
• 04 POSITION. Stepping into responsibility: a job, a business, a stronger voice in your family and community.
• 05 LIVE THE PURPOSE. Giving others what you received.

Our faith and our open door

MALKOT is a Christian organization, and we say so plainly. Our name and our story come from our faith: we believe every woman carries dignity and purpose, and that it begins with the King.

Our faith shapes why we serve. It never decides who we serve.

MALKOT programs and assistance are open to every woman facing hardship, regardless of religion or belief, nationality, race, language or background. Taking part in faith-based activities is always optional and is never a condition for attending a gathering, joining a class, being matched with a mentor or receiving assistance.

Our commitments to every woman

• Free. Our gatherings, classes, mentorship, assistance and referrals are free. We will never ask you to buy anything in order to receive help.
• Confidential. What you share with us stays with the people who need to know it in order to help you. We never publish your name, story or photo without your written permission.
• Respectful. You are treated with dignity whether you come once or every week, and whether or not you share our faith.
• Honest about our limits. MALKOT volunteers do not give legal, immigration, medical or financial advice. When you need that kind of help, we connect you with licensed professionals.
• Safe. Everyone who works with women at MALKOT is registered with us and has agreed to our code of conduct.

Leadership & Governance

MALKOT Foundation is governed by its Board of Directors. The Board sets our direction, approves our budget and policies, and makes every major decision by recorded vote. No decision at MALKOT is made by one person alone.

Free and open to every woman. Faith activities are always optional.

MALKOT is based in Palm Harbor, in Pinellas County, Florida.

How we know it's working

We want to know that what we do truly helps. With each woman's consent, we keep track of attendance at gatherings and classes and how many women complete each class cycle. We share results with our Board, our supporters and the public, never in a way that identifies any individual woman.

A world where every woman starting over finds a table set for her, a community that prepares her, and a place she occupies with purpose, in every corner of the world.

Malkot Foundation is a Florida nonprofit corporation governed by its Board of Directors. Our application for recognition of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code is pending with the IRS. Our legal documents and policies are available on our Transparency page.
